How to play

Rest the bowl gently in the palm of your hand. For smaller bowls, you can balance it on your fingertips.

Begin by lightly tapping the outside of the bowl with the striker to wake the sound.

Holding the striker firmly, slowly move it clockwise around the outside rim using steady, even pressure. Move your whole arm rather than just your wrist and keep the striker as upright as possible.

Don’t rush it — hand-hammered bowls can take a little practice. Allow the vibration to build gradually and you'll begin to hear the bowl's deeper tones emerge.
